I can't find s/n 5683909 anywhere for 50hp

I have searched numerous post and sites for the s/n 5683909 on my 50 merc. I believe it is a 1980 1/2. Any ideas? I tried Marineparts.com, Maxrules.com, Marinshopen.com,Oldmercs.com, and no luck.

1980/81 started with serial number 55#####.<br /><br />1982 stated with 59#####.<br /><br />Yours is somewhere inbetween. That's the best you can expect.<br /><br />Aldo
