I did the unthinkable

After a lot of contemplating I decided to sell my beloved Starcraft a few weeks ago. This came on the heals of one mechanical breakdown after the next, and almost 66k weeks spent in the shop this summer... It also didn't help that my wife didn't feel all that safe while she was out on it. We all learn at some point that if the Admiral isn't happy then no one is happy ;) So with that said, I've been searching the last few weeks for something a little more substantial that "everyone" could live with. After looking at literally 30+ boats, new and used, I decided on a new 2013 Tidewater 216 center console. I took delivery of it today! Just a few of the options it has are FG T Top w/ electronics box, spreader lights, head in console, wash down, yamaha F150, full cushion set, and a dual axle aluminum I beam trailer. Here are a few pics.

After the problems I've had this year I totally know where you're coming from. I'm going for a new engine though...

Nice ride!

The rebuild starts this weekend! Anyone have any clue as to how many sheets of plywood the transom requires?????? ;)

Re: I did the unthinkable

My wife never did feel safe on the SS, she was always thinking the boat would capsize when someone would move around in it. It was getting to the point where she was miserable when we were out, and I was miserable when she'd stay homegetting knowing she want ed to be on the water. It also didn't help one bit that the boat spent so much time in the shop. I looked into good used motors, and brand new motors as well. However I just could nt justify the cost.

beautiful boat and likely more seaworthy hull than many of our old crocks. hope you'll stay around despite the fact what you gone to the Dark side. your boss is happy knowing you'll never be able to retire, to keep up the payments on your boat.....;)

TO THE REST OF THE STARMADA: parable here on keepin the Admiral happy and being sure all the details are sorted before lettin her on the boat?

Keeping the Admiral happy isn't unthinkable. In fact it's down right smart since both of you will enjoy the water. Now, thinking down the road - you sure got a nice donor for a tin Starcraft center console.

Jas knows glassers buddy. He's dissected them like frogs. I'll add this; when you see an awesome early 70's Starcraft Offshore buzz by you on Lake St. Clair, don't hate.

Enjoy your new boat, she's a beauty.

Ya gotta keep the boss happy. Now convince her you are good at fixing things. This was very hard with my boss. Then buy an old tinnie, like the one pictured I've been trying to get for several years. The old guys in his late 80s and doesn't want to sell it. He's going to fix it up. His kids don't want it, and neither does his wife. He'll probably outlive me. Back to where I was, then tear into it, taking your time, and make one to look as nice as your last one did. Every so often asking her advice (you don't have to implement it when she's there). Then you can say we did it. Mine is very proud of her contributions, most of which didn't get used. She did have a couple good ideas tho. Easier to get the money for new parts, paint, epoxy, whatever that way too, as it was her idea.

Well, it looks like a nice ride, Jbing81... could use a kicker though, some insurance to get the family back home again. Not that I as a yammie owner think that these outboard are not "bullet proof" though. Enjoy the ride!!
