Hello Everyone,

Just thought I would pass this helpful info on to all. I don't know how you feel about fixing your trailer wiring or replacing bulbs all the time, but I finally found a cure for all that frustration. I found a place on the internet that sells a product called wireless tow lights. So now when I want to go fishing all I have to do is plug the magnetic base transmitter into my tow vehicle, attach my lights to the rear of my boat and I am down the road. The nice thing about these lights are I can use them on my utility trailer too. They have magnetic bases if you want to use for pulling a car.

EDIT: You must think we are pretty dumb, Steve. Spam is not welcome. JB

Lets go fishing...

I just put new wiring and lights on my trailer for about $30 and I would be satisfied if it lasted 3+ years.

For me $170 is a little hard to justify, but I just have a cheap little tinnie.

Hi Jasper,

I know they are a little costly, but the nice thing about these lights are that I can use them on anything I pull. I have 2 other trailers that I am constantly having problems with the lights, so they are handy for them too. My brother borrowed my lights last week to pull a car, so they are truely versatile They also have magnetic bases on them...

Not a bad idea, but I just bought a set of magnetic base plug in lights from Harbor Freight for $9.99 with a coupon. Of course mine have wires, but for the difference in price I'll live with it. All my trailer lights work, I just bought them as a back up system.

Had a set of detachable lights about 25 years ago. They attached to teh stern cleats of the boat. Worked well, and were high enough to be seen.
HOWEVER, I launched at West Palm Beach, Fl. Took the lights, which had the trailer license plate on it, into the back of the truck for safe keeping. When I returned, a police officer was at the trailer calling something in. I asked whats up, and he said the trailer did not have a tag on it, and he was calling it in. I showed him the detachable rig and the registration. He told me to attach the plate permenantly to the trailer to avoid future problems.
Which is exactly what I did.
