The motors are made to wind higher and hold up, use the faster prop. You can always change to Evinrude's synthetic XD-100 E-Tec oil mixed 50:1 for any RPM, according to my friends who race the 1990 era OMC V-6 loopers at 9000 RPM.

93 200 evinrude 20" hydra sport 14.75 19 spins 5650 @44.7mph or 15 17 spins at 5900@ 42mph thanks

Interesting look to the mounting of the tabs. Anyway, the hull is responding to blade area obviously. You're OK as far as rpm with the 19, which gives you the best speed.

I have a prop that would make for an interesting test. It's a Turbo Ultima 4, 14 1/4 x 17 4 blade prop. Kinda rare in a left hand prop without a special order.

taking a second look this 19 pitch is an omc 14.5 by 19 do you think if i went with a 14 by 19 i would pick up a little more rpm or i could have my 15 by 17 repitched to 15 by 18 or should i call it good enough

It's always more desirable to add bite (efficiency) rather than to reduce bite (efficiency). Rarely is it a good idea to reduce diameter and rarely does that increase efficiency.

It would be more desireable to look for a prop with more lift to reduce drag. Keep in mind not all 17" or 19" pitch props are created equal. The Ultima 4s bite hard and have a lot of lift. That's where they have the advantage over your ordinary 3 blade props.
