i got spark finally shift interupt switch

i tried the engine after swaping the switch last night and i got nice spark now.I still didnt get it started because of this crapy weather it wanted to start though i think with a little ether it will fire up i just hope the gas isnt bad it sat for a year and a half. Well hopefully their isnt a feul problem. Thanks for everyones help bruce and the boat doctor i appreciate it i would havenever figured that one out myself. thank you i hope i get it running tomorrowif not ill be back asking questions again. thanx mike

DO NOT use Ether. If you want to prime it, use some gasoline and pour a little down the carb and try it. Get that starting fluid off the boat.............

And a word of caution:

Put the gas can away from the boat before you turn it over.

I just went to visit an old friend in the hospital with 2nd and 3rd degree burns over his arms and chest because the carb backfired while he was still holding the gas can.

On a lighter note, his new nickname is "Kingsford"

And put the flame arrestor on before trying to start it. Take Don's advise & throw the starting fluid in the trash.

i tried the gas twice it wont start it puts and shuts off with a puff of smoke out of the carb it seems like it turns over weaker and weaker the battery is on the charger with 200 amp start cause the battery was really weak. do you think it might be a feul problem
