I have a 93 evinrude 90hp 2 cycle outboard

...I'm putting new shift and throttle cables on the boat, also a new shift/throtlle controller. The instruction want to know if it is a push or pull throttle and also the shifter. How do you tell ?

The throttle cable pushes to speed up the motor.----The shift cable pulls the shift lever to go into forward.----Why are you doing this ?-----Controls and cables last a long time.----What make of control are you installing ?

Cables were sticking and cracked...the controller was sticking badly when trying to throttle up. I unhooked the cables from the motor and the controller. Cables would not move easily and neither did the controller. So I replaced the cables and put a new seastar 1700 controller on the boat. I also replaced the steering cable it was so bad it was hard to turn the steering wheel. Thanks for the reply info about the push/pull.
