I just got up... I fainted...

My wife and I work for the same company and today there was a MAJOR amount of drama. The gal who has been working directly with my wife ended up quitting. Unfortunately, that means all of the job duties the gal had are now falling on my wifes shoulders. Thats the bad news... the good news is that she's going to be compensated for the effort.... bigtime to the tune of almost 2x her current paycheck.<br /><br />But why did I faint? As we were riding home, we were discussing the additional income we have now and how nice it is going to be... Then she said "Well, I guess we don't have to wait to get a new car then. I guess we'll keep my car because it is newer and you can get a truck or something."<br /><br />I ABOUT right there!! But THEN, when we were eating dinner... she says<br /><br />"You know what, this means we can upgrade the boat next year too! We'll just say "oops" I guess that was a starter boat, we will have to get a new one.."<br /><br />HUMINA HUMINA!!! Am I dreaming?!?!<br /><br />Sean

Just make sure that your new expenses exceed your additional income by a minimum factor of two. And for God's sake PLEASE don't put anything away for a rainy day.

Quick pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming.... and then go get your wife something nice and this weekend take her out to the new boat dealer and ask her to choose the boat that she like most and go sign the deal!!!

Kinda stinks about the extra work load. Hope there isn't too much stress involved for both your sakes. The extra $$ will be nice, though. <br /><br />I switched jobs 3 years ago and took a very nice pay increase. That's how I was able to buy my current boat. On the stressful days, I just look at the boat when I get home and all is well.

Hehe... it's funny to read the varying number of responses here. <br /><br />Don't worry guys... the current boat isn't going anywhere anytime soon.. <br /><br />As much as I would like to buy a brandy-spanking new boat and truck to pull it with, realistically, we'll do the responsible thing and eliminate all of our debt. We're not loaded with debt by any means, but to eliminate whatever we have - that's the smart thing to do.<br /><br />Sean
