I came back to the ramp after a hard days fishing, put the boat on the trailer, got home and realised I'd left the fishfinder on, does this mess with the calibration cause I believe their supposed to be used in water NOT ON TAR!~

The worst that could have happened is you damaged your transducer from a build up of heat.

Now for the good news, very few transducers generate enough heat to cause a concern and most could care one way or another about being used out of water. My transducer manufacturer doesn?t say anything about it and I?ve indivertibly left mine on for a couple of days without harm.

I don't think it hurt anything. My Eagle actually has a mode that you can play around in. It gives you a fake underwater picture so you can get used to the functions of the unit. I am not for sure if it is feeding from the transducer in this setting but the transducer has to be hooked up.

I've forgot and left mine on for days at a time, out of the water, boat on trailer, never hurt it.

Uh, I think the reason the transducer has to be hooked up is that the power cord and transducer share the same plug. Kinda hard to run it in demo mode, without any power.:D

Actually this one has two plugs, one for power and one for the transducer, it's from the early 90's.
