specs 2001 johnson OP 150 25" shaft V6
Ok...got my manual. Basically it says.."remove retaining clip from the shift shaft. PUsh the shift level toward the power head to disengage the shift shaft from the bellcrank on the port end of the enigine's shift shaft."
Just in case anybody else has it...it's a Johnson'evinrude 1995-2002 shop manual number B737-2. Page 387
IN English....This should release the shaft from the main part of the engine. After this I should remove the 4 screws at the bottom (two on each side of the lower unit). I should be then able slowly remove the lower unit as it slides down???
Sounds like a plan or am I possibly missing something before I start???
Any and all advise for a beginner would be highly appreciated. :)

It's good that you ask. After disconnecting the shift linkage, there are 7 bolts to remove. The four you mentioned, the one that holds the trim tab, the bolt under (above) it and the one just forward of it.

c/6
Hooty
