I need torque specs for a seahorse

Hi I have my 1955 5.5 hp johnson seahorse all torn down to replace a con rod. I have located all the parts, now I need the torque specs to put the whole thing back together again. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Welcome to iboats. I assume you dont have a service manual? Getting one would be my first step. This website will have what you are looking for.

When I have looked for a service manual they start at 1956 and up I have a 55 would the information be the same?

Flywheel nut 40-45 ft/lbs
Con rod screws 60-61 inch/lbs
Cyl head bolts 60-80 inch/lbs
Crankcase to cylinder 60-80 inch/lbs
Spark plugs 20-20 1/2 ft/lbs
Other standard screws:
#10 25-35 inch/lbs
#12 35-40 "
1/4 60-80 "
5/16 120-140 "
3/8 220-240 "

Should of known you would know that FR Just out of curiousity, why are there no manuals listed for 55 like Jay stated, I couldnt find any myself?

My Seloc also starts in '56. I wish I had something that covered '50-'56.

The info that I submitted is from the Evinrude factory service manual. That manual for those years is not user friendly. It covers models going way back, with constant revisions up into the early 1960's.

Your engine has bushing's instead of roller bearing's on the crankshaft main's, and connecting rod's. When working with these small engines', and all their related parts', use only a in/lb wrench, you are working with all aluminum parts', and small fasteners'. If you don't have a in/lb wrench, go more by feel, than using a ft/lb wrench.
