My boat is taking on water. I got on my belly and inspected with a flashlight and noticed water entering at the transom drain. At first I thought it was the screw-in plug not sealing so I filled the bilge with water and there was no leakage. I am suspecting that the transom seal is leaking, causing water to enter the transom wood and seeping down to the drain plug area.<br />What is involved in resealing the collar? Does anyone have a drawing or pics?

Re: I/O transom seal

Thanks jomac, year is 1989, alpha 1, 3.0 litre mercruiser. Since then I have found three loose bolts on inside of transom. They were hard to get to because they were behind the exhaust system. Have not put it in the lake yet. Hope this was the problem...what do you think?
