please please help me, I have Volvo penta engine and I replaced the water pump impeller now I have problem with overheating and I got this code DTC 1423: ERWT 1 higher than expected stage 1.
I know I made a mistake I forgot to add water to the hoses after I replaced the impeller and I am pretty sure there is air in the system . Please help me how I release the air. Please help

Put up a picture of your impeller setup area (VP has a few different designs) and we'll be able to better help tell you how to go about bleeding the air out.

Your getting the code because your over heating. Get the temp down and code should clear

Did you put the hoses back on it the same position?

How are you providing water to the system? If the boat is in the water, the pump is below water level and will self prime.

if you are on land and trying to suck water up from a bucket, it wont work. you need a bucket big enough to submerge the drive or use muffs

Do you have the blue flush port? If so, make sure you cap is on tight and that it is sealing. If not, it will suck in air.

If you ran the impellor dry for any length of time (minute or more) it is most likely now damaged. If it had lube on it, it might be okay for a couple minutes.

The pump cannot prime itself. In normal use it is below the water line and so is always primed. To test run on land it needs to be force fed water - either muffs or in the inlet fitting before the pump (blue cap, garden hose female fitting).

If the pump is primed, it will purge the system of air.

Hi guys , guess what when I put the old impeller and it’s have broken blade rubber it’s suck the water and I have no problem and no overheating stage 1 code, but when I put the new one it doesn’t suck the water it’s same Exactly the old one same size but the different is it’s less harder and you can bend it easily but the old one it’s harder , so I went and bought another impeller same material of the old one I meant it’s hard to bend and its work perfectly. So the different is the material the first impeller I bought is cheap it’s can’t suck the water from the house because it’s doesn’t build enough vacuum and the second one its more expensive but it’s the right one.
Thank you guys for your help . Appreciate all of you.

Your welcome, I will check it out and get back to you it’s not with me right now. I think if I take the boat to the lake it’s might work because the water level will be higher but on the ground it’s never worked so even if it work on the lake I don’t recommend people install it on their boat it’s trash.
