Deepblue, please don't take my post an contradicting or confrontational. In no way am I implying that. I was merely suggesting how to remove the usual waviness when doing large area prep for painting. I know hand sanding is tiresome, but I also know how to flatten a panel to remove those waves. It took me many log sanding experiences to understand that technique. I actually like your input on these threads. But like you stated, to each there own. The OP can pick his method knowing the different ways to prep the hull. :peace:

Yes WOG I have a few and they are great to rough in initial fillers and such. But for actual long block sanding, those straight line sanders will leave a line in the fillers really quickly, if you don't watch what you are doing. I actually made a couple of block sanders with really good results. The length really depends on what you are block sanding. JMHO!

Not at all gm, I did not not take this way at all. I just wanted to explain that I am aware of the benefits of long blocking and I am not accusing anyone who is using it by being hand sanding fanatic. I enjoy debating some issues with you and WoG but unfortunately, text based communication channels are very limited in bandwidth so they leave a lot open for interpretations. Can't complain, few decades ago, we would have been writing letters. :)

I am also aware that I am very passionate about the subject and this can be easily misconstrued; but in reality, I have a lot of respect to the members? input here and you and WoG are on top of this list.
