Re: I support the death penalty for this

So the guy had his lawyer contact the police about this. It was an Imperial 27' speedboat. Midnight. Not a good thing.

The operator may never have seen the Whaler. But, he chose to leave the scene after the collision. I have no pity for him, whomever was responsible for the collision. You just don't leave the scene of something like that. Instead, you try to help anyone who is hurt.

I noted fault only as part of the discussion . . . I knew that would ruffle some feathers, but I thought it was worth introducing to the thread as the damage indicates a strike from the starboard side. This is a boating site, and I thought rules of the road were and are relevant.

I also think JB's "There is no such thing as an accident. There is only premeditated negligence" would make an interesting thread topic. I actually tend to agree, but it seems too black and white to me . . . more like a whole bunch of shades of grey . . .

I wasn't addressing the fault point..............only that leaving the seen is an issue itself...........It's also a lot easier to plead down an, I was scarred, didn't know...........ya'd, ya'd, ya'd....blah, blah, blah.....than face felony vehicular homicide charges due to intoxication.........:(

As for JB's premeditated negligence that is another thread...;);):)

Always hard to know who's responding to what . . . Nothing excuses the hit and run aspect especially if he/she could've rendered assistance which appears probable since I am assuming that boat found its way to its trailer with some help from the operator . . .

I think I'll start that thread . . .

Could be his boat was taking on water? Get it to shore before there was 2 of them sinking? We may never hear the whole (TRUE) story, only the Lawyers version will be heard.
