I decided to post this after reading another "rant".

Maybe in part to brag maybe in part to defend my response which I am now upset with myself for the way I posted on that thread.

A while back one of our deputies went to a house in a small village in our county to serve papers on a man. Nothing big, a child support hearing or something. While at that house he met a man that had just moved into this village population 150. He told me then he did not run a check on this man because he looked like a very nice young man, clean cut respectful and dressed very well.

Fast forward to last week. We got a call from investigators from another state. This man was supposed to be living in our county, in that village. He had warrants for armed robbery and attempted murder. I took that case. It sounded like the same nice young man. I set up watch on the house to verify he was still living there so we didn't disrupt the rights of those who did live there. (there were 4 or 5 men living there). Giving up hours of off duty time to do this, using video equipment, and checking his background. Found out he had been convicted of armed robbery and attempted murder once he stabbed a man and took his wallet. He was sentenced to 20 years for that in Alabama....he is 30 years old. Figure that out.
He was after that convicted of attempted murder, tried to kill his 3 year old daughter. Got another 20 years did 3 in Alabama.
This recent warrant he was breaking into a house, the man came home and he beat and stabbed him. Also found out he is primary suspect in another murder with a warrant pending.

Yesterday we got him. Working with the state patrol, neighboring agencies, and a few other departments we found out where he worked and took him down there without incident.

He had stated he would not go alive, but I am thinking 20 heavily armed cops in swat gear storming his construction site where he was working kind of took the fight out of him.

The Alabama authorities said that he got 20 years for both convictions, but with prison overcrowding he was let out at 3 years for both.
