im out of adjustment and i want to get the boat forward aboat 8-10 inches . boat hangs off that much off the back runner.

You could probably have move it forward and have it welded.

yeah it is the people that sold me the boat sold me the trailer from another company. cant weld aluminum to steel..need another route..i would just slide the back bolt holes to the front and put some washers to make it the same ..and as far as i could and then that would give me enough to make the back of the boat even with the runner 8-10"maybe a wider steel plate for the front two holes then maybe a wider u-bolt with another plate on the underside? dont laugh at this pic i hurried up and you might laugh at my kindergarden drawings..

I don't see any problem with that, so long as the bow or winch have enough clearance with the rear of your towing vehicle.
Plus you put a decent steel backing plate underneath the alloy for the bolts to pull on.
I suggest you also make sure that the nose weight is within specs.

first I'd focus on the weight and balance of the boat. There's no harm in being 8" off the bunks/rollers in the rear. "If it ain't broke, fix it until it is."

I agree with the idea of having support under the transom, but I also wonder what moving the winch stand and boat 8" forward would do to the balance of the rig. Would you still be able to move the axle cradle enough to get the 10% of rig weight on the tongue?

No support under the transom is likely to produce a hooked hull. Not good news.

I think your idea is perfect. A little more tongue weight usually doesn't hurt anything if the tow vehicle can stand it. Less tongue weight could be a problem. Try and use galvanized for your added metal if you can, or at least paint the steel you use really well. Aluminum and steel don't like each other very much and quickly cause coorosion. Zinc and aluminum are better but not perfect. Could use SS, that would be much better.

Nice job on the vid of the boat and the pics of the winch post placement. I'd first take it off completely and as others have said about the 10% tongue weight. First see if you can acheive correct tongue weight with it that far up. You might have to move ax;e a couple of holes (if it has holes) to achive this before you relocate that post.

Also, keep in mind if you relocate it and have to alter the way it's attached if you got in an accident you might have an issue with the trailer manaufacturer or your insurance company. Maybe the manufactuer has a replacement post for that wider upfront beam. I had an issue with my post creeping. Metal is cheap so if I tried to tighten u-bolts down more the bottom plate on the post started to bend. The trailer maker, Shorelander customer service sent me a new heavier duty post no charge and shipped it for free to me.

My bottom line would be though (as another suggested) is you've got a first class rig and set up there. You used stainless steel accessories and may not expect to be around salt water, yet you even installed a MK Rip Tide salt water troller . . . Why would you want an aluminum trailer??? That rig would be great for the occasional fishing trip to the coast (I like that whaler style). And unless your aluminum trailer has some special coating on it that makes it impervious to salt . . . (if there is such a thing).

I'd be selling that trailer, or trade it back with the dealer who sold it wrong to you in the first place. On Craig's list, this time of year it would move in a heart beat at the right price. You can Mickey Mouse around with it all you want, but it will never be the correct match for that nice boat. My guess is the boat dealer dumped it on you. Clearly, it's the wrong one. Then by a galvanized trailer which is the correct size for the boat which will last for the life of your boat. I don't like painted traiilers myself, just my opinion. They look cool, but will rust at each chip or scratch unless you keep up with touching it up.

how about going to the other end, and extend the bunks? Slide them back 4" and split the difference (since they don't have to go all the way back). You also don't interfere with balance that way.

Or if you believe you may get a hook in the hull, just stick a block under the stern when you are parked for storage; nothing will happen driving. You use the tongue jack to relieve some pressure when setting the block.

The winch post is a major safety device and your last line of defense if you hit something at speed before the boat rams your vehicle from behind. I have to think the plate being wedged in as it is now has to help; your mod leaves you relying on bolts and holes in aluminum. I just don't think messing with it is a good idea.

How about a wide plate that fits between the winch post and front support. You may be able to use two bolts on each side on the front to attach it.

Send that picture to the manufactuer of that trailer. I bet they will give that dealer Hell as they will both be responsible if your rig comes through your back window or ends up on top of your tow vechicle in an accident. You have a dangerous setup as it is now! That post is the wrong one and bolted to the wrong place in my opinion.

How is this positioned in the wrong place? What is dangerous about it? Wrong one? Nothing wrong with where it's at or the way it's attached.
The winch post looks like it has already been moved forward but the op would or needs it moved farther. First pic seems to show old position of stand. (shadow)

yeah i bought this rig new from "THE BOAT YARD " its a used boat dealer that sells new allucraft alweld and excel boats .. they use the same trailers for all of them .. i like my trailer i do just want it forward 8- 10 inches i bought the rig january 2012. the trailer company is FASTLOAD TRAILERS

everyone is talking about balance . well i can say this when i take off the trailer and boat off my yukon it does not pop up .. but if i get on the rear deck it slowly picks up the trailer i get off it goes right down fast it seem the weight is distributed good maybe im going overboard with this ill post pics of the rear in a few.

If the weight is good and you like that then buy some longer slabs of wood. mount and carpet them and you have your problem taken care off. My opinion for what it is worth. If you can't move the winch post up 10-12 inches then I would get a bigger trailer. That boat is hanging way off the trailer. Just my 2 Cents.

yes thats what i was trying to show in my drawing lol... .i feel if i leave the two bolts in the back rear of the plate added washers or a 3/16 shim to make it level and slide it up then i would get a s.s. plate welded where you suggested and put another plate underneath the tongue and sandwhich them together with some 1/2 s.s. bolts lock washer and nuts . i would think this would be very strong..
