On the weekend we were docked at Grenadier Island centre and Parks Canada has replaced all the docks. Are they ever nice except....They are only 20'. Someone screwed up I think. But on Saturday afternoon a very nice Sea Ray 500 came cruising by with about 5 people on board. Soon he was backing up intending to dock. He just put it in reverse and expected all us on the dock to help him in, and we did. He had the boat coming in exactly in the middle of two slips. He had to because it had a 14.5' beam, and there is only 20' between slips.
Not only was the boat 50' long, it had a jetski mounted to the rear of the swim platform. He had only about 10' of boat in the slip, the rest was sticking out.
I must give it to him, he tied it up perfectly. Two bow lines and a spring line on each midship cleat, as well as stern lines.
It was quite the site to see. I wish I had taken a picture.
My hat is off to him and his seamanship skills.
