ID question;johnson no model#plate

hello all,know i'm beating a dead horse ,but iwould appreciate the help . the side plug # is 1716299 . base of block # is 8p7274 ,bp7274,or by7274 .i've got some other part #'s if it would help .

Can you post a picture? Probably we can help.<br />Get shots port & starboard with the hood off, and a shot with the hood on. More is always better.

Look for a circular plug on the block about the size of a quarter. The model number may be stamped on the plug. Post it here if you find it.

That serial number puts it in around 1958 the best I can figure. Will need a pic to ID the model and confirm the year. You'll need to host the picture on a website. xs.to is good if you want to manage your pictures. tinypic.com is easier since you don't have to register, but you can't delete your pics.<br />Probably that doesn't worry you much though. :)

thanks a ton Paul ! i was hopping for a 10hp ,but 7.5 should do fine .now i can start my tinkering ! again , thanks so much . probaly see me post soon ,as my boat engine knowledge is limited.lol!
