Hi, new to forum and have a question. I have a 90hp Johnson but thats as far as I can ID. The plate on the tilt bracket is long gone and any other numbers I find around the engine don't seem to match up to anything. Can someone knowledgeable please help ID this engine. Where can I find a number that will help ? Thanks in advance...

Look for a round plug about the size of a quarter on top of the powerhead. It will have the serial number and sometimes the model number stamped on it. Failing that, a picture is worth a thousand words. Post a couple with and without the hood on.

Is it a V-4? Does it have a single four barrel carburetor and a belt driven distributor? If so, it is a 1964-65.

Ok, I've located the frost plug and stamped on it are the numbers A0341178 with a Brand "M" stamped at the top. I've tried to upload some photos but not winning with that at the moment. I will keep trying. Thanks again.

Sorry, Yes it's a V4, not sure of the carburation and no visable belt drives.
