Identify Sea King

Hello,
I happened to come into possession of a Montgomery Wards Sea King. I do not know anything about this motor. The model is a GG9016C Serial number is 75X672191.

Can anyone identify the maker, year of make, 2 cycle ratio, and HP of the motor?
Are parts still available and is there any resources to get parts, parts manual, and service manual for a motor this old?

I would like to get it running, any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a 1957 12 horsepower. Made by Gale Products Division of OMC. It is a Gale model 12S13. Many but not all parts are same as Johnson/Evinrude 10 & 15 horsepowers. Some parts are available right here at iboats. Some at J/E dealers, some hunt and find wherever you can.

Fuel mix is 24:1, Use TC-W3 certified outboard motor oil. May have originally been 16:1 with 30 weight motor oil, but they changed it.

It is guaranteed to have bad (cracked) coils unless they have already been replaced. All those old OMCs are notorious for that.

If you plan to keep and run that motor, you better get yourself a parts book. Dealers wont give you the time of day unless you have a part number for whatever you want.

Not sure if a parts manual will help as about the only parts available will be for the similar E/J motors.
I got an excellent Gale service manual covers all models 3 to 22/25 51 -56
Pictures of models,and parts list was about $15 + shipping on eBay.
Also have a generic manual covers Gale 12,15 and E/J 15/18 and 20 hp in the same section.
