I have a chance to purchase this boat, but would like to know who makes it, and how big of an outboard i can put on it. All I know it is a 14' alum boat. Is this a deep v or semi v? Thanks for the help fellow boaters.

Re: identify this boat?

Could be one of dozens of brands...... the transom corners, the bow piece and the seats help identify it....... a 14' boat like that is usually rated for about 20 HP as a tiller steered boat ;)

Your picture simply doesn't show enough to even begin to guess the answers to your questions.

Is there no plate on the transom giving manufacturer's name, weight capacity, and motor size limitations?

I have a 14' Mirrocraft that is rated for a 35 horse motor, 1,125 pounds total weight capacity. I've seen other, similar, boats rated for smaller motors and less weight.

In other words: Need more info.

I don't know, but it has a look similar to a Starcraft. The 14' Starcraft that looks like that one has a max hp of 15. If it has a 15" transom that's not cut down to make it 15", then I'd say 15 hp max. If it has a 20" transom, you can call it a deep and wide and put 25 hp or even 35 hp on it. I'm pretty sure that one is a 15" transom. Probably about 60-62" wide at its widest point. That would be a 15hp boat.

My 14' Lund aluminum is rated for a 35 hp,but only 4 people or a max of 650 lbs. The boat in your pic doesn't seem to look as 'sturdy' as a Lund..... Maybe a few more pics would help.Especially pics of the transom, inside and out.

Going to look at the boat Wed., as I have not seen it in person yet. Then I can hopefully find out exactly what it is. Is there anything I should look out for in purchasing this? Any major problems with alum. boats? Thanks again for the help.

Pretty hard to go wrong with a little tinny. As long as there aren't any cracks or corrosion (which would both be somewhat unusual). I don't think I'd pay more than $500 for it with no motor.
