Well I have managed to fix my WOT problem with cleaning the carbs. I have taken them appart twice now and apparently the first time I took them apart I didn't clean one of the high speed jets, whoops! So cleaning the carbs "correctly" fixed the WOT thing.

Here's my latest problem...

My idle is high. 1977 55hp Johnson idle's at 3000rpm. It will also sometimes jump up and back down to 3000 rpm.

When I put it into gear the idle drops. At "no wake speeds" the rpms will jump up and then immediatly settle back down a couple times a minute. Absolutly no problems at WOT, runs great. The problem only happens when I am below about 2000-2500rpms in gear.

I have put new coils, plugs, all fuel lines, fuel pump, carb kit, gas tank, primer bulb and line.

Any suggestions?!

Re: Idle & low speed prob's

look at all the linkage, for and slop in the joints, rubber or plastic bushings cracked or missing. you may need to do a link n sinc. especially if you linkage was changed when working on it. idle should be 650 750 in gear.
