Idle Problem?

I have a 1985 115 Evinrude, and it will only idle for about five minutes and then dies. Is this normal with a two stroke? The engine runs fine and stays running when it is at or above 1,000 RPM.

Check the sync, and link, that is if the engine is sound to begin with. You have to start at the beginning.

The compression is 130 on all four cylinders, so it is sound there. I will look at the sync, and link, but how long should it be able to idle at 800 RPM.

With the proper fuel, and plug's, it can idle for hours. I go by engine sound as much as the tach. at low speed's, not all tach.'s are correct at low speeds.
