Idle speed for 175 Johnson Ocean Pro

Anyone know the proper Idle speed for this motor?Mine idles at 1100RPM and surges to 1300.What would cause the surge?Thank's Ted B

On the hose or in the water? Close to 700 rpms in the water in farward gear, boat moving.

Ted...take it in the water it will likely idle normally...just a Thought

So it will idle different on the hose than it will in the water?I will give it a try..I just bought this boat/motor have not been out in it yet.It is a 2000 model on a 2000 1850 CC Seaswirl.Thanks for the reply..Ted B

I have a 1998 175 OceanPro, At choke/startup, it will run 1200,after about 1 min when the choke drops out, 850.In a no wake zone at 1400, speed is 4MPH.

I only ran this one about 10 min on the hose maybe it didnt warm up enough to idle down..Ted B
