After I saw the google search, I thought perhaps that the first one was some sort of canned message.

Then I thought about and realized:
(1) Microsoft must have some pretty sophisticated search system looking for "IE8" and any varient of Internet Explorer 8. -OR- Feran has a boat. Seeing that this is the only topic Feran has posted in, and there is a grand total of 2 posts, I lean towards the first. There's the whole name thing too...

(2) There is at least one person (Feran) who spends some time looking at the search results on IE8 - and reading the posts. I appreciate that this wasn't a drive by posting. Perhaps this is even a full time job (judging by the time that it was posted at).

(3) This wouldn't be such a bad job to do.

(4) Feran had to take the time to register with Iboats, then post the reply, then follow up later.

(5) You know, that's really a pretty good job to have.

(6) I'd bet there are a lot of newsgroups/forums that someone has to monitor for this sort of thing. I wonder what tools they use to do that? Excell, or something a bit more sophisticated? I could see some software - like call center software - that stores html links and 'workflows'. Hmmm... Microsoft does ship some workflow management systems with .net...

v1 0,

You are correct ? I?m a member of the IE Outreach Team and my intention is to help and provide assistance to anyone experiencing issues or needing advice regarding their Internet Explorer. I do post in other sites and forums as the Google search showed. But always with the same intention of helping people with IE issues.
So please do let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,
Feran

I have a question. I am experiencing a problem where the tool bars turn black and the only thing visible is the icons. Rebooting windows is the only way to clear it.

Re: Ie 8?

joed,

There is a fix on the Microsoft website that can be installed and will solve this issue - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962963.

Also, others experiencing this same issue have fixed it by reinstalling IE8 or by changing the theme to Windows Classic and then back to the modified theme.

Although I use firefox and not internet explorer, I do not upgrade unless there is a benefit. What is the benefit?

Re: Ie 8?

I checked Microsoft updates today and now they want to install IE8. The last time I did that my computer froze up and it cost me $65 to get fixed. I am currently using Fire Fox and like, so I don't think I want to go there again. feranm_ie8 team Any thoughts ?

Re: Ie 8?

gss036,

Well, there are many benefits to upgrading to IE8. It has much better security features than previous versions, it?s a more reliable browser and it has other new features like accelerators, web slices, better tab browsing etc. that make navigation a little easier and more efficient. You can learn more about IE8 at these sites ? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx?ocid=ie8_sm_a and http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/.
Also, if it absolutely just isn?t your cup of tea, you can always revert back to the previous version you were using. What upgrade were you doing that caused your computer to freeze before?

I hope this helps you make your decision, keep me updated!

Re: Ie 8?

I did the IE8 and then a message popped up that if I wanted to run the Sonic program, w/o opening something up, click here which I did and then everything froze up.
I got the computer run, but the browser would only pop up to load the site, then disappear w/o doing anything. I tried taking it off and could not, but I still had IE7 on the computer but it still would not let browse the internet. Regular computer programs worked just fine. NO INTERNET!

Fix ran fine for several days but I have black menus again today. So guess the fix didn't work.

gss036,

While I am not tech support, if you can give me some more info such as what kind of computer you have, the operating system, how much ram and the exact message that popped up, I can pass it on and try and help you figure this out.

I am running a Dell Dimension3000 w/Windows. 80GB hard drive. Not sure about the rest. I tried running IE and it seemed really slow and confused, switched back to Firefox and it runs good.?? I am not a computer person, just use it.

Re: Ie 8?

I started doing freelance web design on the side to help pay bills, and making a web page look the same across multiple browsers is a freakin' headache. IE7's not bad, it renders pages the same as Firefox on PC and Safari on the mac, but IE6 renders the page very different, so I have to do a workaround for IE6. I finally got a site I'm working on to look exactly the same in IE6, IE7, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Now IE8 comes along...

I haven't seen IE8 in action yet, but I hear it renders pages different from IE7, and web designers are ripping their hair out trying to make things work in IE8 too now. Just freakin great!

Re: Ie 8?

Ive been using firefox for about a year now. It too has its share of problems. Like freezing up when opening PDF files, rendering pages missing buttons, web pages missing content, and some signon's it just can't remember the signon and password even thought it has been completely removed and re-added.

Got any solutions to these problems? Especially the problem with PDF files?

BTW, these issue are not isolated to one pc, they show up on all three pc's I have running xp.
