So I noticed a lot of boats when you turn the ignition on before starting the engine you hear a buzzing or alarm sound that goes away when you turn the engine on..

II take it this is related to oil pressure and the reason it goes away is because positive oil pressure is detected and satisfies the alarm.

My my oil pressure gauge does work properly as my water temp as well so I'm curious if anybody knows where I could start looking to diagnose where the issue lies.

My my boat is a 1996 Sea Ray 210 with the mercruiser 5.7 if that matters.

I I tried searching the club Sea Ray forums but didn't really find much help specifically to my boat.

An any help is very much appreciated thank you.

Some boats have the optional timer installed..
Leave the key on for 30 seconds without starting the engine and see if the horn starts sounding.

Thanks for that, unfortunately maybe the addiction on for 30 seconds doesn't yield any results. I can leave the ignition on in the engine off with the radio playing when I'm on the water so I guess that's a plus but I read online that my radio may be wired incorrectly and should be wired to the 12v constant and not to the ignition specifically so that if you do have an alarm buzzer it's not buzzing while you're listening to the radio with the engine off.

I I guess I'll check on the Sea Ray forums and see if the 96210 owners are there can confirm if they have an alarm buzzer or not.I was mainly curious where it's actually located because I pulled all the dash panels out I looked under the dash I looked by the shifter area underneath behind it and I don't see any kind of buzzer anywhere.

The alarm is under the helm and the prior owner probably disconnected it

The radio should be hot wired and not on the key unless the key has an accessory connection (4 terminals)

Your looking for a buzzer with 2 short wires, those wires will connect to a purple and tan with blue tracer. Every SeaRay had a buzzer during that year. Their premium level boats had the timer.

Thank you very much everybody you've all put me on the right track. I'll confirm that the wires under the helm match the wire colors that have been mentioned already and that they do that will confirm the buzzer has been cut out and I will purchase a new one and wire it back in.
