Will the entire ignition system (stator, timing, coils, powerpacks, everything...
) transfer from a 1989 johnny 150 to a 1978 johnny 150? I've got multiple problems with the 78 and a neighbor has a locked up 89 with all good electrics. Thanks for the info.

Re: ignition compatibility

Sorry but none of the ignition components are the same, according to part numbers.

Re: ignition compatibility

Does it have to do with the stator or the timer base not physically fitting? If it isn't that, how will the block know what ignition system is on it? Thanks for the input,

Re: ignition compatibility

You may run into some issues with the way some things bolt up but it'll work. Just take a look at how things like the pack mounts on the 89 compared to yours. Use everything from the 89 including the flywheel.

Likely your new ignition system power pack will have a rev limiter set at 5800.

Re: ignition compatibility

I'm looking at the rectifier and I'm wondering if that's going to transfer over. It looks like it might be water cooled??? Any thoughts/ reccomendations for the transfer??? Thanks
