1990 MCM 4.3L
Serial #C874052
Not starting, not even getting a good backfire. 12v at coil +, 12v at wh/red from ignition amplifier, pulled #1 plug and grounded to block....gets a pretty good spark maybe not as bright blue as I would like but who cares what I like.
Distributor (thunderbolt iv), coil (internal resist, sensor, rotor&wheel, ignition amplifier, plugs and wires are all brandy new. Has a 2BBL Merc Carb that I just rebuilt and fuel pump has good pressure. Compression is 125, 122, 125, 124, 125, 126 (in firing order).
I've tried using gas straight to the carb....just cranks. I should mention this motor sure seems to crank slowly, compared to my 260 its seems about half speed. Starter is new. I may need to mentio it doesn't have a oil pressure switch and water heater switch (so basically the tan/blue wire isn't hooked to anything) but I was under the impression that was just for the audio alert system....willing to be wrong though. The only part of the distributor installation I didn't follow to the T is when I installed the rotor on the new dist I didn't use thread locker and a torch lamp, but I am certain I aligned it properly.
Thanks.
