Ignition Parts Cost

I stopped by a local marine dealer and purchased points, condenser, rotor and wires for my mercruiser 140.
The bill came to $75 ! Seems a bit high but I'm not sure as they are "marine grade". A few bucks more and I could have replaced the points with pertronics....
Did I get a fair deal or should I avoid this marine dealer in the future?

Re: Ignition Parts Cost

Thanks!
I knew boat parts were going to be more than the auto equiv, just wasnt prepared for that much more...
I still have the distributor cap to finish. I did buy plugs at an auto parts store. Cheep! Cant imagine how they can be too different between auto and marine...
I'm gonna need another job fer sure.:D

Aerospot, Most of that bill was likely for the wires($35-50), which should be marine grade. As far as I know the points and condenser are non-marine, and the rotor might be marine grade. All in all, it sounds kinda normal, especially if you bought them at a dealer. A discount marine store might be a bit cheaper.

For that engine...
and for further notice if you need to save a few bucks....
you can buy the points set, the rotor and spark plugs at an auto place...
The cap needs to be a marine cap...
The wires..... eagh... mixed on that one.
