Hello all,
I recently had my ignition break, so i bought a universal replacement (6 prong, 3 position) I swapped out the old one. I admit I may have put one of the wires on the wrong terminal ( iam not 100% sure) The engine started up right away the first time, ran for about 15 seconds and then completely shut off. Now there is now power to the motor at all. Any ideas where I should start? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the help. I will confirm the wiring is correct with the diagram. Is there an easy way to Locate which fuse to check?

There are usually 2 "M" magneto connectors, which is confusing - make sure the "B" and "M" are connected properly to the correct "M" (usually the other 'M' is in the 3-cluster for C', I' (or 'A') & 'M' )
- or it will short out - blow fuse etc....
With the connectors, you'll have "B", "M" sitting close together - then across the switch, you'll have a cluster of 3 "M, I [or 'A'], C... not sure why they typically have 2 "M" - one for 'hold-start' and 1 for 'running' ?

Thanks @90HP_Evinrude! I will confirm the placement on them when i get back home. most likely i connected these wrong initially then.
Would i have done more damage then a blown fuse?

Does this wiring combination sound correct:
B - Red/purple
M- Black/yellow

C- Purple/White
I- Purple
M- Black
S-Red/yellow

greatly appreciated!

That is correct. If one of the "M" terminals is raised, put the black/yellow on that one.

I just wanted to update. I followed the wiring pattern above and replaced the fuse and it all seems to be working back to normal again! Thanks to everyone that helped, we will be able to get on the water for Canada Day long weekend again. THANK YOU!
