I have been struggling with this for awhile now. My original engine was a 2 barrel carb 5.0 without a knock sensor, serial number 357725.
After I installed the 5.7, I used all of the original components minus that intake and carb. So the ignition system is original to that serial number.
My question is, which style thunderbolt ignition module do I have, and does it have a RPM limiter built into the module?
I posted about a few top speed runs that I made and someone said there is no rev limiter on my engine and that it is a fuel problem yet the RPM is at 5200 RPM by the boat tach and the sound is very similar to what I am used to with an automotive limiter, i.e. ignition cutout, pop pop pop.
Also to add, I believe my fuel system is keeping up as I have solid fuel pressure and nearly new components.
