My oldest step daughter just got off the phone with my wife late last night. It seems she had all 3 of the grandsons, herself, and hubby at the ER. All of them were itching and scratching.

My wife then asked her if she washed the clothes of her hubbies with the rest. Daughter said yes that she always does. My beloved wife then said "What was he working with on the boat helping your dad? Her answer was fiberglass, and then she realized her problem was in the wash. Not a medical condition.

I laugh everytime I think about it.

Why go to an ER? Aren't they for people with emergency problems? I hope no one died for lack of care.

Glad you can laugh now the alternative might not have been funny. Great story.

Grandpa can share this with the grandchildren when they grow up some day and need a grin.

JRJ, yeah, I know what you mean about the ER being for emergencies. However it seems when lower income families that have the all mighty medical card, they do what they want. It makes me mad that they do that, but all I can do it tell them that is what a family doctor is for. Actually she should have thought everything through first.

At least my wife knows when I tell her to wash something seperate, she knows there is a good reason. It took her only one time to know why! :D

Funny this should come up!

When I got married the first time, on our honeymoon my wife broke out with a rash all over the front of her. Guess what I was doing for a living at the time. Yep, I was working at a Corvette shop in the body shop.

Lubedude, I gotta ask you this. Does it still make you itch? I grew up in a body shop where my dad worked with fiberglass. At first I got the itchy scratchy thing going on, but it doesn't seem to bother me anymore. Maybe it is the will power to make myself think its not bothering me or I just grew out of it. I don't get any rash from it and not much of an itch. I have got into the habit of wearing a mask lately when I do work with it. Guess I'm just weird when it comes to fiberglass,,,,,,,,,and maybe a few other things. :)

Re: Ignorance or Stupidity

This post reminds me of my mother.

Many moons ago her washing machine packed up half way through washing my cricket kit, she called out a repair man who emptied my kit out of the machine and arranged to come back a few days later to finish the repair.

To cut a long story short I played cricket the following day wearing a jock strap that had not been rinsed and was still full of washing powder, it was a hot day & I batted for almost 3 hrs.

I found out that washing powder & sweat combined is very caustic, more so around some very sensitive parts of my body, what started as being slightly uncomfortable while I was playing, developed into some very bad burns, this happend over 20yrs ago but I still have the scars.

:( :(
