Re: II Drive Help

Superbee, I had a shifting problem in as much as I lauched my boat at the ramp, put it in reverse, backed out into the bay then found I couldn't shift into forward! We have a 6-7 knot current here in Morro Bay so I was going backwards at about that speed. I shut down the engine, threw out the anchor real quick, quieted my wife down as best I could, hung on to the hook for awhile wondering what happened.

I lifted the dog house and took a look in the engine compartment. Back on the stern I discovered that the shifter cable end guide had come loose from the housing on the transom. There is a bolt there that fits in a yoke that has a "rounded slot" in it to hold the end guide in place. The bolt secures the end guide while shifting. That bolt had come out of the slot. I retrived it and replaced it.I put it back in the slot, leaving it somewhat loose. I used a nylon nut. The reason I left it loose was to allow it to travel up and down in the slot. I don't know if this was a proper repair or not but its been shifting fine ever since. I hope this helps.

Right now I'm having problems with my starter. Ran perfect last week. Now it wont even turn over with the switch. It will fire right up and run if I use a screwdiver on the solenoid. I repaced the switch but still no go. I'm no mechanic and am hoping to get some help from the forum. Befor I post I've got to find the serial number for my engine. I'm hoping Don S will help out, but he can be rough on you unless he has those numbers.

Re: II Drive Help

Ya Don S has got on me for that, well today when coming to the dock it didn't come out of gear and i hit the concrete boat ramp with it i did turn the engine off so it wasn't that bad i did scrap the side of the boat with the dock it should buff out.
It did not do this last week but the Motor didn't idle in the Water the Exhaust manifolds were bad
I will check that out this week i need to fix some small things like Wiring, Gauges and now the Alterator, set it up for Fishing at night now that big things are fixed like the exhaust Manifolds and the Stern leaking oil.
I was just wondering because i T'ed the only Vacuum line on the Engine to try to get some of the blow by out of the boat, there is a Device in the back of the boat that a Vacuum line is running
it has a cable coming out and goes to the Gear box
it has something to do with putting it into and out of gear I'm wondering if i cut the Vacuum down thats why it didn't come out of gear at low speeds
but does at high speeds, I think thats this device forces it into Neutral i could be wrong i will be posting New messages trying to find out.
