Please take a look!

I have finished the major glassing work that I can do. Now it goes to the gelcoat guy to do the cosmetic work, like re-installing the splash well, smoothing over dock and sand bar rash, etc.

I never found a satisfactory way to remove the carpet glue. I tried everything everyone here suggested, but nothing really worked. I ended up not removing the old glue, as much as I just moved it around. The method I chose (because it worked the least bad) was using a cup wire brush on the end of my angle grinder. I followed that up with some 3M Carpet Adhesive Remover, let it soak, and hit it again with the cup wire. I sure dug up more fiberglass than I would have liked, but there was no other choice. The glue was like 1/4" thick most of the places. There is still traces of glue. I just couldn't get it all. I'm planning on having the gel coat guy spray down gel coat and splatter on the floor, mixed in some Intergrip for non-skid.

Next, once I get the boat out of my garage, is to address the seats. They need some attention. I will post pics to Photobucket once I get into them.

I have learned A LOT from doing this. More than I can put here. I am a novice. I have never attempted boat repair of any kind before this. If you are like me, and are considering a resto. project like this, please PM me. I would love to share with you what I found out.

Can't wait to launch this thing!
Happy boating!

Where are you located?

That's gonna be a fast little boat - what prop are you going to start with?

It should be fast. I'm starting with a 22P Mercury Laser II. I'm located in Western Washington State.

Fantastic Job !! Please post here when you get it back on the water. I'm interested to know what kind of boat that is, and what type of performance it gives you. Congrats!

Re: I'M DONE!!!! well... mostly...

Pics of the maiden voyage launch will be up here. This is a Cee Bee Avenger Mach II; a 17' "old skool" ski boat. It does NOT have a Tahiti style hull. It has a pad-V bottom much like a bass boat. It should give better performance than a Tahiti. I anticipate it having "another gear" so to speak. Hammer the throttle, trim out the engine, feel the thing lift on the pad, and then really start to motate.

I still have a LOT of work to do:
fix/install seats
clear coat metal flake
install motor, rig, and wire

If you think about what is involved in those things, it involves mucho work yet to do before launch.

Thanks for the comments!

If I knew you lived in this area I could have gotten you some of the supplies you needed at no charge. PM or email me for more info.
