and a trap. Just uncovered the boat from its winter wrap and found this crumbled white mess all over the floor. Odd I thought, I'm sure I had thoroughly cleaned it before covering it for the winter. Soon it became apparent that the white mess on the floor was small bits of floatation foam. I then opened up the forward storage compartment and found chips and chunks of foam 6" deep filling the whole compartment. There was also little tufts of fur all over the carpeting. I am assuming it was/is a racoon that was nesting over the winter. I now need to come up with some way of replacing the foam and getting rid of the racoon.

This is a 1971 runabout where the foam was formed onto the underside of the deck in the bow about 8-10" thick. There is no foam under the floor at all. I'm thinking I might just remove what is left and then cut thick blocks of styrofoam and glue them in place. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

For about $50 - $75, you could get the pour in foam and replace what was taken out by the 'winter guest'. It expands to about 30 times its original volume, and will fill places that you may not be able to reach.

If it is a really small area, you could use "great stuff" gap filling foam, that you get at HD or Lowes.

I thought of that but the existing foam (or whats left) is on the "ceiling" of the storage compartment. Not sure how it was put there originally by the manufacturer. Anything liquid is just going to drop to the floor and make a mess. I would have to turn the boat upside down.
