First of all, I'm not pregnant..........

But I am in my 8th. week of being "smoke free!!!!!!"

Almost 8 weeks ago I got up, went to the kitchen and made a pot of 90W French Roast coffee and went outside to have my first smoke of the day. I have been a long time smoker and I had not tried to quit in a long time. I then said to myself, self, go get your cup of "Joe" and think of smoking later.

I then went back into the house, got my cup of "90W" and decided not to light up that morning. Well, It's been almost 8 weeks now and the craving to smoke has been very minimal. I did this "COLD TURKEY", no gum, no pills, no patches and no hypnotism, no BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just thought I would pass this info along in this post, as it can be done.

Congratulations!

I have just completed my 25th month.

You are never going to reget quitting. You really never stop having urges but they pass.

Me too.

The boat has been covered for 8 weeks. :(

Seriously, congrats to you. I wish it would come to me, like it did for you. One day soon it will.

I was smoking 3 to 4 packs a day, quit the same way. COLD TURKEY. That was in 91. I still reach for my shirt pocket once or twice a year, realize what I did and smile.

Congratulations on the 8 weeks, I quit in the spring of 2003 at the Nascar Race in Bristol Tn. Hang in there you truly will not regret it. I had quit several times before but this one took and like someone else said I will reach or have a small craving. I will say that at about 90 days and then again at about 6 months it was rough but after that it was easier as time went on, now cigs STINK STANK STUNK.

It truly is an accomplishment, congratulations.

Only X-smokers know the vacuum and that hollow hungry feeling you get after quitting sometimes. Years later when you reach for a lighter and can't find your pack of smokes and you all of a sudden realize you have not smoked for eons, you'll remember these words LOL.
Now don't go crazy on the ones that still smoke! :D They need to come to their own conclusions.
Too many quitters become "holy" and get right ornery to others about their habit, that's right, the same habit they still smell like!

Just saying :D

Congrats. 30 years smoke free myself. I honestly do not understand why young people smoke these days. My gereration didn't have all the years of med data available. todays gen does. I just don't get it. For the longest time smoking was on a long decline amoung kids, now it is on an upswing for the last 5 years. why?

Congrats and hang in there. It will be tuff at times for a while but hang on and do it. I quit 3 years ago next month. Take my advise though and start exercising if you don't already. You will put on some pounds if ya don't watch it.

congrats on 8 weeks. it is one of the hardest things you will ever do. i smoked a pack a day for 23 years and quit around 10 years. i still reach every now and then but it passes. i just woke up one morning and said "no more". good for all of you who quit.

Changed careers and my life with my last cig in April 2008. This is my first smoke free New Years Eve in 26 years. Ticked I didn't do it years ago. My 12 year old daughter tearfully asked me to stop. Pictured her face with every urge. Nine months later I rarely think about it.

Good luck!

I'm just past my 13th week. Although it took a heart attack and quadruple bypass to get me to quit, I am feeling better as each day passes and I even noticed I can climb a flight of stairs without panting.

Oh yea...my wife just entered her 9th week. She's finding it real tough some days, but she's determined to beat this addiction.
Congrats to all who quit..........

Re: I'm in my 8th. week!!!!!!!

I hear more success stories from those that quit cold turkey than any other way. I believe the reason for this is because they made up their mind themselves to quit, for their own reason. Which, is when you are ready to quit. Not when you are doing it for someoen else, or some off the wall reason like new years day.

Congrats.
