Has anyone had any experience with Imco SS risers for stock Merc. manifolds. I need to raise my risers 6 in. as I am planning to run a roller cam in the 400 SBC I'm building for my fishin' boat. The are rather pricey but I don't like the idea of running riser extensions as there will be two places for a leak to occur.

Why do you need to raise the risers for a cam change

Re: IMCO exhaust risers

My last motor ingested water from reversion. It started life as a Wellcraft 200xl and now is a first class fish and ski complete with live well, trolling motor and casting decks fore and aft. I also went overboard with the epoxy, glass and kevlar when I replaced the stringers and transom. It probably has a little less freeboard now. I also read that if you go with a roller cam you need more riser height to keep reversion at bay.

If you're going to all that effort, why not consider thru-transom exhaust?

I have gone through-hull with IMCO tips. They come out below the swim step. I had trouble keeping the flappers in the Y-pipe as they would fall apart and plug up the exhaust port in the transom plate.
