I have a small chrysler 1983 7.5hp VWB-52179D

I am trying to change the impeller!

I have taken out 3 bolts from the bottom of the gear housing 2 on the outer part and 1 under the snout I have slowly tried tapping with a rubber mallet to separate the housing put seems to get stuck. Not sure what else to loosen or remove?

I am not certain, but I think you need to remove the four bolts from the upper part, drop the whole assembly and remove a nut from the front stud. Then you can separate the upper and lower portions of the lower unit and the water pump will be accessable.

You are correct thank you, in addition to removing the four bolts from the upper housing there was a screw to the shifting rod that had to be loosened in oder to separate the upper and lower halfs.
