Cobra OD - When installing a new impeller, does it matter which you bend the flaps when putting it into the cage? Sounds strange but the cage is oval shaped and of course the impeller is round.

Re: Impeller Question

The only time it matters is when you are reusing an old impeller that has taken shape. Even then it will right itself, but may crack in doing so.

On OMC, it is impossible to flip the impeller. On mercruiser it is possible to install it the opposite way once it had been run.

Re: Impeller Question

Not a huge deal, but it helps to lube that thing up a bit for your first "dry start", you'll be fine if it's too late, keep it in mind for next time.
