In need of some help

I bought a new boat back in March. It is a 1988 Bluefin Sportsman 1950 with a omc cobra 2.3 I/O. The floor was replaced and the carpet was replaced. He did a good job from what I can tell. My issue is that he covered up the ski locker. He also covered up the storage and the live well in the bow. He told me that the live well isn't connected. If I don't have access to them will this be an issue ? Also I would like to put a second battery to power a fishfinder/GPS and possibly a trolling motor. Where would be the best place to put it. Thanks for any help

These are the only pics I have right now. I'm having some engine work done on it. Hope to have it back within the next couple of days. I will post a couple pics of the bow.

Pics would help - bow mounted or rear mounted trolling motor? There should be some storage under the seats on either side of the doghouse - may provide sufficient space for a battery.

It would be a bow mounted trolling motor. I have a foot wide cover the transom in front of the motor. The seats were taken out and he made a casting deck. It looks like he used 1/2 plywood over it. I will post some better pics when I get it back

Seems to me that the easiest place to put a battery for a troller and electronics, would be in what used to be the livewell.

Cut a hole, put in a hatch or a hinged cover.

Do a bit of serious looking....... was the deck replaced???? OR was it covered over by more plywood then carpeted? Those are significant things to know. You should be able to tell under the motor cover.

Yup.
Why the deck was replaced is what I would want to know. Boats rot from the bottom up and often a new deck covers rotten stringers and soggy foam.

Yeah, boats rot from the bottom up in 99.9% of cases. If only the floor was replaced, i would be weary.

Not to worry about the stringers, as its an aluminum hull, came with aluminum stringers.

Riveted hull. or welded hull?

I don't like the way he put in those seat pedestal support bases. They should have been under the floor.
Does lead me to think that maybe he put new ply over old rotted floor.

Re: In need of some help

Thanks for all the help. This is the first real boat I have had. I have learned a lot on here. The guy I bought it said he pulled up the floor and put a new one in. I won't know until tomorrow when I get it back. The further I get into it the more irritated I have got. I guess lesson learned on what to look for.

As far as the seats go it actually looks like they are supposed to be like that. The original seat were the ones that have 2 seats back to back.
