Recently purchased a Sears v-bottom alum boat...has an Evinrude 9.9 electric start motor with a model # E10ECCD and a serial # E0714627...is this a 1968 model or a 1986 model. Icon on motor says the fuel/oil mixture at 100:1...both boat, motor, and trailer are in excellent shape and don't want to screw up fuel mix on engine...Help plz

info on evinrude 9.9 mdel year

Hey everyone, just purchased a 1968 Sear's V-bottomed alum. boat and trailer...trying to determine the model year of the motor...model # on motor is #E10ECCD...everything about the boat, motor and trailer are pristine. The icon also shows that it requires a fuel/oil mix at 100:1 which seems very odd...Help

that model number indicates a 1988 motor. fuel mixture will be 50 to 1.

Extra oil will never hurt a 2 stroke motor, if in question always use the lower ratio as in 50:1 worst case you will need new plugs in your well lubed outboard.

Thanks hardwater for you info....finally talked to a guy up in Vermont who also provided some assistance....now all I need to do is get this puppy running. Believe plugs maybe fouled cause lots of raw gas odors and will not run without heavy choking...what I needed a work in progress...LOL

Sounds like the carburetor is varnished up. Very common on motors that have sat for a long time.

The water pump impeller is short lived in those motors so I would recommend getting it replace right away to avoid it coming apart and overheating the engine, at the worst possible time out on the water.
