I had a new Power Head put on my 92 Force 90 hp, model 906X92C, in 2001; the old SN was 00029117. There was some indication of moisture in the upper cylinder in late 2009, after the temp warning buzzer came on. The head gasket was replaced and symptom subsided. I just pulled the head again when the buzzer cam on yet again and everything appears OK (i.e. no indication of water or blow by on the gasket); compression is 95 lbs in all three cyclinders. I plan to reinstall the head using the perfectly good looking gasket; any concerns? What torque spec should I use?

At this time I plan to change the empeller and temp sensor, what are the part numbers?

thanks

If you install a new head gasket.
Do another comp test.
95# is way low.
95 on all three usually means it wasn't done right.
Remove all 3 plugs to test?
20 ft# and stagger.

I would'nt recommend re-using the head gasket, they are designed to be compressed one time only, and if you put it again it may run for a little while, but it will not hold up(been there tried that with sleds when I was younger). Mine ran 120lbs on all three when it was running right. Mercury's website has a part number lookup, and they actually have a pretty good database of old force part diagrams.

Here's a diagram for the gear housing and the impeller part #. Note there are different models but it seems the impeller part # is the same for all. You can also find the other part numbers you need from this site including the head gasket. Then you can search for the parts over here at iBoat which seems to have better price and ships fast.

Thanks for the information; what should the initial torque be on the head gasket?
