I need a little help, I have a 1998 sylvan deck boat with a 90 hp mariner outboard, ignition switch went out and got one that the sylvan dealer said it was a direct replacement, after connecting it wire for wire as soon as I turned the switch to on position it turned over, well long story short I need to know if anyone has a wiring diagram for my boat so I can get it back in the water.

If using a Quicksilver/Marcury 2000 or 3000 control box:
Black is batt -
Red it batt +
Red/purple stripe, or solid purple is switched 12v......available in switch positions on and start.
Red/yellow stripe is starter solenoid 12v available only when the switch is in the start position.
Black/yellow stripe and Yellow/black stripe: I forget which is which. You can look on the components in your engine and see which is which.

One is the fuel enhancement (choke solenoid.....fuel lines from it to the carbs) and has 12v only when the switch is pushed in, and I don't remember if the ign. switch has to be on or not to get the 12v. An ohm test will tell.

The other is the ignition kill switch and is connected through the switch in the off position only to the black wire to short out the triggers and kill the engine.
