inpeller problem:just drip,drip,drips

do I need to replace it when it drips about once per second from the pee hole,running at idle on the hose.The motor is an 85 johnson,10 hp.Also. if it needs replacing,do I need to drain the gearcase before removal?

I would first make sure the tube is clear by blowing air into it, If that does not work then you might need a new water pump. You donot need to drain the gearcase to do this.

I wouldn't make a decision based on running on muffs. Put it in the water. Some muffs don't seal well and you might get erroneus flow.
