Did it all yesterday. I am so sore from contorting around in the cabinet to make connections. Lucky for me everything came apart and went together fairly easy or it would have been a bear of a job. Needed to run new switch and outlet for the garbage disposal, and modify the drain pipe to clear the disposal, plus sink was larger than old one by about 1/2" inch, so cutting the counter top was needed.

One nice thing is the Insinkerator brand disposal went together just as it should. Nice product.

Today I'm feeling it.

Re: Installed new Sink, Faucet and added a Garbage Disposal

I installed a disposal at my old house which was 100 years old. The drain pipe from the sink was cast iron. I didn't have any flow problems but I decided to replace that pipe while I was at it just because it ran low in the basement and I was tired of hitting my head on it. Well good thing I did, it was PACKED like 75% full of sludge. I laughed when I thought about how well my disposal would have worked running into that old drain line. It would have been "hey honey check out the new.......DULP!"

Oh yeah, old pipes are always so much fun..... :D

After getting the disposal working, they wanted to stuff the thing full of garbage just to see it work. Entire apples, chicken bones, etc disappeared. They think its magic.

Had to explain that little hands will disappear too. Seeing the whole apple disappear in a blink of an eye pretty much convinced them to keep their hands out.

Now all I have to worry about are things like Hot Wheels cars, Lego blocks, etc. :D

I worked maintainence in college apts. repaired and replaced hundreds of those, you'll find out what can and can't be put down the drain.
A tip for anyone with a disposall: throw a half of sink full of ice cubes in it once in a while, it will clean the funk off the inside edges of the diaposall and shine up the blades.

Hats off to anyone who can complete a plumbing project with only one trip to the hardware store.
