A while back I as for suggestions for the cause of hard starting my 1989 25 hp 2 stroke merc. It runs great after it starts but it always takes 10 or 11 pulls even when primed properly before it starts. Once its warmed up , it starts first or second pull. I replaced the tank fuel line, the bulb, and the tank and motor end connections. Someone on this forum suggested installing a new primer / injector kit so I ordered one and got it today. My new question is, "Can I replace this prime injector kit without removing the carb? I don't really want to do a carb rebuild at this time because the motor runs great after it starts. The carb is a Walbro WMC single float and the primer system housing is at the side of the float bowl housing on the carb. I can remove the 4 screws on the top of the primer housing while the carb is still installed but will removing the top rather than the bottom create a problem for removing the spring and check ball from the primer system?
