Any ideas on how to installing the float switch?Should the switch be right next to the pump? Does it have to affixed like bolted onto the floor? Does the pump also have to be affixed? because i have seen my old pump and its not affixed its just hanging on the floor.I also have a question about leaving the pump on. But doesnt it drain out the battery if you are leaving the pump on when your boat is just parking at the marina?

Yes you should attach both to the boat, there are alot of things that could happen to where it won't pump water if it isn't.

My pumps are attached to a braket that is attached to the boat.

And yes, once the switch is installed it will always be ready to come on, that is what you want.

A Trickle Charger is a good idea if you're docked for extended periods and have power available.

Neither the pump nor the switch draws any power unless the switch activates the pump when water is present.
