Installing inline clear plastic furl filter on 1991 6hp.

Bought a used 1991 6hp Johnson and don't see any fuel filter. Come to think of it, I don't see any mention of one in the Service Manual nor seen one in all the pictures I've been looking at for weeks of 5-8 hp's 1980-2000. Any reason for this?

I'm planning on installing one of these with like 10 micron filtration and 12 GPH flow rate:
