I love this kind of debate. A chance to get some real insight from those who have been in the industry for many years. Please continue to share your individual experiences as one day this information will no longer be "fresh" for the rest of us and all we will have to rely on is archives found when searching the "old" internet. Thank you, Gentlemen.

Archive of the "old" internet? There won't be an archive to the "old" internet. It'll be called The Overlord's Past Memories after skynet.jpg Google takes over.

Hey Cecho, just curious but how has you're SEI installation gone? Any issues or gotchas? Have you run it yet? I have a SE106 arriving in a few days to replace my MC1 as well. I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a new one. I'll tinker around with my old drive when I get time and if I can fix it I will keep it as a back up.

Cheers

Re: Installing SE106 in place of MC-1

I just got back from a trip and found a used Alpha 1 that seems to be in excellent shape while I was gone. Gears look good. rotated and shifted smoothly, oil looked great, exterior looked great. I figured it was worth the few hundred dollar bet. If this one ever goes out I'll be getting the SE106 as a replacement though.

Installation is straight forward. It hooks up just like the MC-1 did. Doing it without a drive stand or a drive stand that's too short in my case is not recommended. The arches of my feet are very sore.

Thanks Bubba. I've just checked he FedEx tracking and my drive is sitting customs so hopefully I will get if in a few days. I'll do a pressure test on both halves before I install.

Cheers
