installing wiring harness

Quick question. I pulled the wiring harness out of the hole on my '78 40 hp and can't get the bottom of it to fit back in the slot. Do I need to remove all of the wires and feed it all in from the out side in. Or can I push it in from the inside out. If I push it from inside out how do I get that bottom foot in the slot, any tricks.<br />Thanks<br />Mark

Mark, On my '77 150HP, the wiring harness fit in from the inside, fairly easily. The bottom of the moulded plug had a "foot" that fit into the slot. I did have to bend the thin "opening" part of the moulding to allow me to push it down into the slot. If you cannot get it to go in easily, it is possible you have some other item in its way (fuel pump or like is likely)
